AAO-HNS’ Healthcare Reform Advocacy Efforts
The American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery (AAO-HNS) is actively engaged in healthcare reform efforts in Washington, D.C. The Academy has joined the surgical community to formally submit comments to advocate for the inclusion or improvement of physician specific components of healthcare reform legislation in the House and Senate. To learn more about AAO-HNS’ positions on healthcare reform, review the links below.
UPDATE: On December 24, 2009, the U.S. Senate passed (60-39) the “Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.” As Congressional leaders convene a House/Senate Conference Committee in January 2010, the AAO-HNS and the surgical coalition will continue working to positively impact the development of a final legislative package and seek changes to address our remaining concerns. It is of paramount importance that healthcare reform, in any iteration, not damage the physician-patient relationship or access to and the delivery of the highest quality care in this nation.
