Annual Meeting
AAO-HNSF’s 2009 Annual Meeting & OTO EXPO program offers otolaryngologists and other interested health professionals a series of unique and dynamic educational experiences designed to broaden and enrich their understanding of otolaryngology – head and neck surgery and to provide a foundation for continued learning. The Annual Meeting’s program format, including Scientific sessions, instruction courses, mini-courses, and posters, will help participants maintain a continued awareness of accepted methods of diagnosis and treatment and will provide updates on new developments in the field.

Scientific Program
The formerly named Translational & Basic Research Program and Scientific (Clinical Research) Program have been working together to better integrate the programming to represent the full continuum from basic science research through translational research and clinical practice. To that end, the combined programs will now be solely referred to as the Scientific Program.
The Scientific Program of the annual meeting is comprised of scientific sessions, miniseminars and scientific poster presentations.
Orals
A series of eight-minute oral presentations in cutting-edge clinical and translational basic research aspects of otolaryngology.

Submission of Manuscripts to the Journal Editor
All oral presentations read before the Annual Meeting become property of the AAO-HNSF. Papers presented in the Scientific Program are required to be submitted to the Academy’s journal, Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery. Authors who submitted thier paper as Translational & Basic Research papers and wish to submit elsewhere can check the indicated box, saying they wish to submit the paper elsewhere, and provide their publication plan. It will then be determined if that presentation is appropriate for a waiver of submission to the Journal. Mandatory submissions must be submitted online through the Editorial Manager (EM) system, no later than Thursday, September 10, 2009. All submissions must meet journal requirements for peer review. For submissions and instructions, go to http://otohns.edmgr.com and follow directions. No manuscripts in hard copy will be accepted, either at the Annual Meeting or via mail. Please consult “Author Guidelines” at the EM site above, or in the online journal at http://otojournal.org. Once accepted for the program, papers are prohibited from being published elsewhere. Papers may be presented (but not published) elsewhere after the conference, provided that the Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery journal is cited. Authors of poster presentations and miniseminars are also encouraged to submit their papers to the journal.
Presenter Disclosure of Financial Relationships
The AAO-HNSF endorses the guidelines for accredited continuing medical education as set forth in the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education’s Standard for Commercial Support and adheres to these standards in the conduct of its educational activities. The Foundation maintains control over the development of its educational activities and the selection of topics and presenters. A full disclosure of proprietary interests is submitted by all presenters and the presence of any financial relationship with a commercial interest is reported to the program participants both in the program’s printed materials and at the presentation. In addition, presenters will disclose their intent to discuss drugs or devices or the uses of drugs or devices that have not been approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
