On October 22, 2024, the Academy submitted a letter to Point 32 regarding non-payment of CPT code 31237 following Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (FESS) when performed at the same time as Septoplasty. This has been ongoing since Spring 2023 and in July 2024 the Academy received several member-related emails regarding these denials. The Academy’s letter details that each endoscopic sinus surgery case is unique, and unlike septoplasty, the necessity and frequency of debridements is not uniform.
