As a resident, I strive to become an excellent surgeon, challenge myself, and serve as a leader among my peers. Leadership has been an important pillar of personal develop and a skill I have prioritized . Prior to medical school, I earned my MBA with a specialization in leadership. I think there are core values taught in business school that directly relate to growth as a trainee in our medical system. There are obvious skills taught like communication, group dynamic psychology, and effective organization. Other skills like the importance of authenticity and vulnerability within groups are learned over time. These are aspects of leadership that I have worked to refine over time with involvement in medical student and residency mentorship programs as well as my prior job as an administrator for an urgent care practice. As a junior resident, I have involved myself in committees impacting our patients and practice patterns to learn from and work alongside members in our department.

Member-at-Large presents the opportunity to work with and assist the chair which I think provides the unique experience to learn from a senior resident in a professional capacity. My primary goal for the year would be to assist the chair in increasing attendance and involvement in the SRF General Assembly. Secondarily, I would like to focus on outreach for increased participation nationally in events throughout the year. Last year, I participated in one of the medical student Q&A programs and the number of students without home programs seeking mentorship was more than I expected. I would love to increase awareness and accessibility to resources for these students interested in the field and have plenty of residents involved to help them. The AAO-HNSF has been an important part of developing as an otolaryngologist and an organization I have proudly contributed to since medical school through scientific submissions. As a resident, I would now welcome the opportunity to serve on the general council and proudly represent other otolaryngology trainees across the country.

Previous/Relevant Experience: Resident representative for a webinar for medical students interested in Otolaryngology; Participated in poster presentations for 2023 and 2022 AAO-HNS meetings
