Rohini Bahethi, MD

Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, PGY-4

Hello AAO-HNS SRF! My name is Rohini, and I am a current PGY-4 at Rutgers, originally hailing from the beautiful city of Annapolis, Maryland. I am running for Information Officer this year and excited to potentially serve you all. Currently, I am the SRF Program Representative for Rutgers, and have been working to connect our residents with the SRF and the Academy at large for the past two years. Also, I run the social media for our program (@rutgersoto), which has been very successful and has helped us connect with applicants and other residency programs.

I look forward to expanding this role as Information Officer, with a primary goal of fostering a sense of connection between members of the SRF as well as with the Academy at large. In this role, I aim to continue building on the established communication channels. Additionally, I believe social media, such as Instagram, is a highly visible and valuable tool for uniting a community and encouraging vibrant discourse on important topics to our section. I plan to build on the already excellent platforms established, with the goal of promoting important events for networking, resident/fellow development and meetings/scientific program submission. I look forward to serving you in this capacity, and I welcome any feedback, comments or questions! Thank you!

Previous/Relevant Experience: Program Representative – 2022, 2023, 2024. Currently, I run the social media account for our program (@rutgersoto). In medical school, I was a class representative for the class of 2021, attending monthly student body meetings and voting on important issues. I was the leader of the Emergency Preparedness/Building Services subcommittee, which in 2019, saw an incredible expansion due to the COVID-19 pandemic. My role increased dramatically, and I quickly organized and led a 500+ person workforce which contributed tens of thousands of hours of community service to our hospital and surrounding community. In addition, I sent out a weekly update and worked with other students to create a website, highlighting areas that needed to be filled as well as excellent work by our volunteers- in that time of isolation, the weekly update and website helped bring us together and foster a sense of community among us all. This experience, while unprecedented, helped my hone my skills as an advocate and with communicating with large bodies of people with the primary goal of uniting people towards a common cause.
